BL-NK; bigger, better and we are raring to go!

Exciting few weeks ahead for the Cube Space team!  We are raring and ready to go with the next chapter for BL-NK at it's new Shoreditch home.

Set to open the doors finally on 7 September the new building is a unique, 4,500 SqFt mixed purpose urban-space.  Set over three floors it provides versatile and flexible event spaces, a relaxed & friendly café, first floor bar with roof terrace, gallery space and a number of smaller meeting rooms.

The relaxed and friendly café delivers on atmosphere and great coffee.  We will again be working with our partners Climpson & Son’s to bring the best barista made brews. Along with new foodie partners, a collaboration of three friends that met and worked together at CRATE Brewery, they will be providing vibrant menus from locally sourced produce to the café, first floor bar as well as the client & in house events taking place.

Billed to be one of Hackney’s hidden gems, the first floor bar will be open daily till midnight.  Keeping it local we will be serving up several craft beers including partners CRATE Brewery and regular guest beers.  For finer weather days there is also an amazing roof terrace!  We know where our summer office will be!!

The first floor will also be home to a digital art gallery, showcasing work with close ties to the area that uses technology as its intrinsic material and to reach global audiences.

To find out more about being a part of this great project through Sponsorship and Business Membership or to hire the space for your next event please get in touch with one of the team at info@bl-nk.org.

To celebrate the opening we would love you to join us for the BL-NK is back launch party! powered by Hackney on Wednesday 16 September from 6pm.  RSVP via Eventbrite here....

Barista Academy graduates get awarded at FADS

Following three rounds of our successful Barista Training Academy with Coffea Arabica at FADS Hub in Archway, our amazing, local Islington community candidates Javier, Grace, Amina, Barney, Carla, Tim & Amelia were all presented with their ‘Barista Certificates’ on Thursday 20 November 14 by Leader of Islington Council, Cllr Richard Watts.

The intensive Training Academy provided by Daisy Rollo of Coffea Arabica, who has worked with the London School of Coffee for 7 years as a lead trainer, is part of our ongoing work at FADS, the community hub & space within the Hill House development project in Archway. Two full days of training followed by a complete assessment will enable our candidates to secure jobs in the coffee & cafe industry.

On the first day candidates learn about the origins, cultivation, processing, roasting and the perfect extraction. Then look at milk texturing followed by the menu and how to deliver each of these drinks and finally finish by equipment cleaning and maintenance.

The second day is a practical day where candidates are delivering drinks to customers at the FADS coffee bar, looking particularly at quality and consistency. After the training and further days experience working in FADS cafe they will be assessed and receive a Barista certificate.

And staying with coffee:

Having developed partnerships with other amazing companies in this fashionable industry including Climpson & Sons for our coffee and La Marzocco UK who supply our machines we delighted to bring to BL-NK in Old Street La Marzocco’s ‘Out of the Box’.

The La Marzocco UK event will shine a light on the coffee industry with interactive workshops, Q&A panels with industry leaders, the UK latte art championships plus live music, craft beers, street food and more!

You can register to attend Out of the Box at:  http://lmconnect.co.uk/ootb/form.asp?j=3112
