BL-NK (known as Cube Space at Hackney House)
BL-NK is a test-bed for public / private partnership in Hackney Business Enterprise and Digital R&D, with an initial 15 months at East Rd before we moved into our new location on Curtain Road in September 2015. At BL-NK we currently run a community hub, cafe, bar and event hire spaces with a challenging, content-led gallery programme. Our remit on this project is vast and varied and no better explained than through the testimonial of our project partners Hackney Council Regeneration Delivery:
“The partnership between Hackney Council and Cube Space to create BL-NK, a creative, business, events and training space in the heart of Shoreditch has produced some excellent results. Cube Space have brought their vast experience of curating art and digital culture to the space, leading some cutting edge installations that have enhanced the offer to business and the local community. They have managed the venue in a way that allows unrestricted access to local start up businesses and potential investors looking to experience everything the local business community has to offer. They’ve created a welcoming space that is both culturally relevant but of huge strategic importance for business visitors and international visitors and investors alike.
BL-NK has become a crucial space in the story of Hackney’s development as a must-have business and creative destination. Through Cube Space’s management of the venue it has become a venue where serious business can be done and a terrific venue for informal networking and socialising. Cube Space have managed to achieve this because they understand what a high end business venue needs and also the type of offer that our creative, tech and start-up sectors need if they are going to attend events and exhibitions. Their network of local providers and suppliers has added enormously to the offer Cube Space have created.
Cube Space are the operational managers of BL-NK with full day-to-day operational responsibilities and are partners with hackney Council and the local business community in planning future venues along similar lines. Such has been the success of BL-NK that business partners, Government and arts bodies have all shown both practical and financial support for the venue and will continue to be partners in future venues. The success of BL-NK has meant that sponsorship opportunities have been created and delivered both now and into the future.
Overall Cube Space rose to an incredible challenge of running a brand new venture at BL-NK in partnership with Hackney Council and have delivered a ground breaking venue that has made a significant contribution to the economic, cultural and creative future of the London Borough of Hackney.”
